layed between Otford and Maid- stone East due to a“tresspasser”. British Transport Police praised


the driver, and Tweeted: “Delayed heading to Canterbury this morn- ing? Two jailed for assault over a sandwich tray


A SNODLAND couple have been jailed for three years after an attack which left awomanwith “appalling injuries”–over atray of sandwiches. Greg andMariaToole, ofAmisse


Drive, Snodland, punched, kicked and stamped on their 6 0 -year-old victimafter adispute at an engage- ment party last year. The injuries suffered by the vic-


tim in the assault on February 1 8 , 2 0 1 7 included a fractured breast- bone. The incident happened in Hol-


borough Road when the Tooles and the victimbecame involved in an altercation as the woman was attempting to leave the party with agroup of friends – and aplastic tray of sandwiches. It was the tray, rather than the


sandwiches, which sparked Greg (3 3 ) andMaria(3 2 ) Toole into fury. The woman got in a taxi but


Maria Toole rushed towards the vehicle and dragged her to the ground, punching her several times and pulling her hair. Her husband then kicked her and stamped on her chestwhile she lay on the ground. A relative managed to get the


woman back into the taxi and she was taken to hospital, where she was treated for fractures to her ster-

involved in the RSPCA’s new Paws 4 Change scheme, which introduces young people with difficult upbring- ings to the responsibility of being a dog owner. The charity nowintends rolling the


scheme out nationally. Nine-year-old Jaydee foundherself


at the RSPCA’s Leybourne Animal Centre two months ago after her owner fell ill and was unable to look after her. The move to the centre in Castle Way, Leybourne, was unset- tling,but staff say shenowenjoys so- cialisingwith dogs and people. Leybourne manager Becca
