Wild West Productions’ May 18 event at Salt Creek Arena, Boyd, paid
out $7,278! Patti Wellmon, Pilot Point, won the Open 1D with 14.644 on Dream Can Do.
D&D Barrel Productions’ May 18-20 event at Grady Co Fairgrounds,
Chickasha, OK, paid a total of $32,563! Wenda Johnson, Edna, TX, took home a chunk of that, winning the Main Race 1D each day on Dreams First Flash, with 14.767, 14.789, and 14.934 in that order.
Lost Horizon Ranch, Bryan, hosted a horse show and playday May 19,

Sooner Barrel Racing Assoc’s May 19 event in Sapulpa, OK, drew
153 open entries. Cody Babb’s 15.586 won the Open 1D. On June 2, the as- sociation’s contest was at Inola, and had 137 open entries, 23 youth, and 10 pee wees. Deb Brace won that Open 1D with 15.619.
Acadian CHA’s May 19-20 event Gonzales, LA, won’t be forgotten by
lots of youth! Thanks to generous sponsors, every youth entered received some scholarship funds! Top money went to SR champion Chaser Crouch and JR champion Faith Farris. Other SR recipients were Madison Melasky, Karrigan Cagley, Jaycee Lowery, Kelsey Jordan, Iris Baker, Jordi Brown, Stella Cummings, and Taylor Deaville. Other JR recipients included Brinley Lippincott, Barrett Freeland, Lyndi Polk, Brea Collier, Cassie Cerny, Chance Cerny, and Will Bushaw.
Bluebonnet Country Reined Cow HA kicked off its Memorial Day

($1K-NP-Ltd), Spencer Gray (Open-Hackamore), Jeff Spiers Nov-NP-Bridle), Judy Forten- berry (NP-Bridle), Robert Rivers (Ltd-Open-Bridle), and Robert Chown (Open-Bridle). Shelda Kamp and Jackie Kotzur each earned reining jackpot buckles, and Heather Gentry won the AQHA Amateur Cutting. Caleb Bai- ley was tops in the Youth Bridle Scholarship competition and Jadeyn Garret tops in the Youth Limited Scholarship competition.
Gulf Coast Stock Horse Open Show Series hosted its Memorial Week-
end Show May 25-26 at Johnson Arena of Wharton County Fairgrounds. That show’s all-around champions included Lauren Waechter (Jr-Horse), Kylie Turner (Nov), Klare Segura (Youth), and Susan Morris (Am).
Arkansas QHA ended its 2017-2018 show season with a bang with the
Memorial Day Circuit, held May 25-28 in Tunica, MS. With 4 judges, there were good-sized classes despite crazy weather. Saturday night’s Blind Horse- manship Challenge was entertaining and was won by Brian Brady on Lazy Looker. Out of 20 entries, Brian was the only contestant to correctly complete the pattern so he took the full $1,100. E.H. Pait rode Katie Johnson’s Sole Sis- ter to win $250 in the $500-added Level 1 Western Pleasure. In the Stand- ford Level 1 11&o WT with 13 entries, there was a tie for first and second, but a tiebreaker resulted in Cole Crossland on Ubetimwhistlindixie being named champion, winning a saddle and $156, and Alec Cochran on Zipit Martha Stewart being reserve and winning a buckle and $117.
South LA Team Sorting Assoc’s winning teams at the May 26 show
in Port Allen included Youth (Claire Martinez/Klaire Kreaemer), #8-W-4- Inc-2-Man (Chad Campbell/Troy Rue), Open-2-Man-Ranch (Joseph Zito/ Theresa Guidry), #15-W-7-Inc-3-Man-2-Gate (Andrew Zito/Joseph Zito/ Ronnie Horn), and #14/-W-9-Inc-Team-Penning (Jeffery Barnes/Jacob Daw- son/Breanna Hebert). Todd Jeys headstalls were awarded to the top point earner for each rating, and those recipients were Jeffery Barnes (#6), Bre- anna Hebert (#5), Lisa Bell (#4), Tammie Bergeron (#3), and Ronnie Horn (2). Two Todd Jeys saddles were presented also. Tammie Bergeron earned hers as HP #1-3 rated rider, and Joseph Zito got his as HP #4-7 contestant.
The Dressage in the Hill Country Spring Fling, held May 26-27 at
Dripping Springs Ranch Park, resulted in overall series champions Cindy Swartzel (Jr/Smartly Sweetened), Abigail Teets (Sr/Keebler), and Catherine Campbell (Open/Vis Stok).
