THE Bakehouse has been a fixture in the centre of Wood- bridge since 1970's. Located at 21 New Street, there is plenty of convenient parking close by and it is just a stones throw from the thoroughfare. In 1989 the business was

taken over by Neil Moss, with his wife Sarah looking after the administration side of things. Sarah also worked from the shop making celebration cakes having taken redundancy from BT. Tragically Neil passed away suddenly in 2014. Sarah made the decision to carry on with the business with the view that she would give it a year and see what happened. Sarah has a great team of

staff at The Bakehouse who work to the same methods and recipes that the business has used for many years. This consistency is important as customers need to know that

they are guaranteed a quality product. The Bakehouse is a tradi-

tional family bakery specialis- ing in traditional breads, cakes and slices as well as savoury treats and fresh sandwiches. Everything is made fresh every day on site – you really can’t get fresher than that! Alongside the bloomers,

loaves and rolls you will find other types of bread such as sourdough and ciabatta as well as a selection of flavoured loaves. In the counter your eyes will be drawn to home made pizza slices, sausage rolls, brownies, rocky road, doughnuts, and a whole selec- tion of cakes. One of Sarah’s personal favourites is the Lon- don Cheesecake – a traditional sweet treat of pastry, cream and grated coconut, delicious! Of course, the team here are happy to cater for parties,

functions and picnics and can tailor an order to suit all tastes and budgets. Everything would be made fresh to order so you know you would have happy guests! This is an independent family

run business and as such Sarah uses local producers and suppli- ers as far as possible. The Bake- house also supply many local shops, cafes, farm shops, pubs and restaurants ranging from Saxmundham to Earl Soham and Orford to Coddenham so there is a good chance you have sampled some of their delicious baking – even if you haven’t visited the shop. If you are in Woodbridge,

a visit to The Bakehouse is a must. The friendly staff and tasty treats are sure to put a smile on your face. The team have worked together for many years with Pauline as Shop Manager and Shaun as Head Baker making sure things run smoothly. The shop is open 7.30am to 3pm Monday to Fri- day and 7.30 am to 2.30 pm on Saturday. To continue the com- munity theme, the bread that is left over at the end of that day is shared between the Salva- tion Army and the Leiston and Saxmundham Foodbank – what a great way to make sure this delicious bread goes to a good home. The Bakehouse has plenty of

regular customers who pop in for their daily or weekly sup- plies and surely this says all you nee to know about the qual- ity of their freshly baked bread. For any further information or to place an order please phone 01394 384398 or better still, pop in to the shop at 21 New Street, Woodbridge.
