REGISTRATION is now open for the annual Saxmundham Five mile run event on Sunday


14th October at Carlton Park. The whole family can take part, with junior fun run races before


the main race to suit all ages and abilities. Established in 2008, the event

organised by the Saxmundham Running & Fitness Club, sees around 250 runners of all abili- ties set out from Carlton Park around the picturesque multi ter- rain course in Saxmundham. The club is calling for beginners through to club runners to sign up and take part in this year’s 10th Anniversary with chip tim- ing being introduced to the race for the first time this year. There are race momentos for


all finishers in all races and priz- es for individual results too. The 1k Junior Fun Run is open


to anyone aged eight and under. 2k runners must be aged nine to fourteen and you must be 15 or over to enter the five mile run. Enter the five mile race by vis-

Saxmundham Adventure Playground


MANY thanks to all those who came along to our Jumble Sale on Saturday 9th June in Sax- mundham Market Hall and also thanks to the many who gave items for the sale. The wonder- ful Patchwork Quilt made by Pam McIntyre who donated it to raffle, was won by Alice Brown. A total of £821.27 was raised.


£36 was paid out for the hire of the Market Hall which left us with a grand total of £785.27, a good result. Items that were not sold on the day we will try and sell at a Car Boot Sale. All money raised will go towards new equipment for the playground. Can You Help Us? We are always looking for vol-

ON Thursday 5th April, repre- sentatives of the Leiston Coastal Accessible Transport Service were at the United Reformed Church Hall in Leiston in order to receive a cheque for £250. The money was awarded by the “I Wanna be Lighter” club who raise the money each week from their desire to lose a little weight, while enjoying each other’s company once a week. They choose local charities to


support and present them with the money that they have raised through their selfless dedication to losing a few pounds. They do not promote strict diets, but rath- er choose whatever works best for themselves. They share each other’s tips


and favourite recipes and have a light approach to dieting, whilst


still trying to achieve their objective of reducing their weight from the previous week. There are free recipes available and also tea & coffee refresh- ments. The club is run by Chris Bur-


rows, with the help of others. It is a non profit making organisa- tion and the £3 charge each week goes towards the cost of the hall and other expenses. £10 is awarded to the person who has lost the most weight in that week and the next highest weight loser gets a Free week. We are a happy group and we


meet each Thursday between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. If anyone is interested, you are welcome to come along and join us. Gain £s by losing pounds. Chris Burrows
