JULY 2018: ISSUE 111

The occasion of

the

Presidential

Handover usually involves the incumbent welcoming his successor and wishing him well for the year ahead. And so it proved…. A minor difference being that President John Spittal welcomed himself, as he is remaining at the helm for a second year. John has led the club through another successful year and as this was not to be marked in any significant way due his continuing for a further year, cakes were provided for individual members with a larger cake with “Thank You John” on it was given to John. He happily posed cutting the cake but was so busy for the rest of the evening introducing guests and presenting cheques that he did not get a chance to eat a piece. He did however take the cake home and he and his wife Janette enjoyed a slice a little later in the evening. Thank you John for a great year and here’s to a another successful year ahead.

After his non handover to himself, President John Spittal was then delighted to hand ov e r t h e S e n i o r V i c e President’s Regalia to John Fernie and wished him well for the year ahead. It is to a be baptism of fire as the Johns swap places while John S is taking a wel l deserved hol iday at the beginning of the new Rotary Year. John F is not too worried about this however as he has already taken a Club meeting and has plenty of Past Presidents to turn to if need be.
