LOOKING GOOD FOR THE WEEKEND

LEXANDRA WOOD, ONE OF THE NEW wave of female designers creating a stir in London, unveiled her summer collection to
widespread industry approval at The Stafford hotel in St James’s Place. Having stayed somewhat under the radar while she spent a decade taking on a traditionally male-dominated industry, Alexandra is now making her mark on men’s fashion. Her philosophy is clear – men should feel sexy, as well as stylish and well-dressed. “I am so excited to be designing my first ready to wear collection for men and after 11 years of making bespoke suits on Savile Row,” she said. “I can now put all of my energy and passion into ready-to-wear, tailoring collections that are a joy to wear.” The collection includes a lightweight travel suit. “With our customers’ jet-setting lifestyles the last thing they want to think about is pressing their suit when they get to the hotel. We have created a super lightweight 7.5oz travel suit that can simply be folded, or worn, and won’t crease by the time you’ve reached the other end but retains its comfort and durability,” Alexandra explained. The collection is a response to requests from customers who struggled to find interesting weekend wear for men. “I wanted the collection to help men create more diverse and flexible wardrobes, to take them from work to weekend so it includes smart suits, smart and casual sports jackets, smart and casual trousers, and shirts in modern colours and cuts that can be mixed and matched to create different looks,” she said. n
