Pitchcare Classifieds Product News A round-up of the latest product news announced in recent weeks
With Rain Bird’s new XLR Series of water jets, users can now choose from a wide range of solutions that the company claims will outperform and outlast competing long- range impact rotors.
They will save water, time and money in many applications such as large sports field and arena irrigation, dust control in quarries and mines, feed yards, stables, reclamation yards or industrial premises.
Users can select from three XLR ranges with different trajectory angles ‐ fixed 24° or 44° units and a 15‐45°adjustable unit. The XLR 24° unit is designed for standard applications such as sports field irrigation, whether synthetic or natural turf. It is also suitable for horse arenas and some dust control applications and has a throw range up to 54 metres.
Proven as one of the most popular metal detectors, offering incredible value for money for its price range, the Garrett Ace 150 is a simple to use metal detector ideal for groundsmen and greenkeepers looking to identify goal post sockets and sprinklers. A useful health and safety tool also to locate any machinery parts such as lost tines, which can pose a hazard to players.
It offers high performance handling without any complex settings or adjustments. The Ace 150 detector also features great depth, accurate target ID & discrimination. Touch & Go technology along with sensitivity control and an advanced LCD display enables the user to quickly and efficiently identify targets.
Rain Bird has also introduced a versatile 9v WPX battery powered irrigation controller for when mains power cannot be used or is impractical - where power is unavailable or hard landscaping makes it impossible or too costly to run mains cable.
IP 68 compliant, 100% water and dust proof, the WPX is fully submersible and ideal for installation in a valve box. It can be used in wet or muddy conditions and a tightly sealed dual battery chamber and waterproof case keeps water out.
Available models provide irrigation over 1, 2, 4 or 6 zones. They can offer multiple run times by zone, with all common programming functions accessed on the LCD screen with easy to read icons. For fast initial set‐up, Contractor Rapid Programming™ automatically copies the start times and watering days from the first zone to all others. Automatic zone‐stacking ensures that only one valve irrigates at a time.
Dependent upon usage, the WPX will operate for about one year, using a single 9 volt battery, or up to two years with two.

Manufactured in Wessex' own factory in the UK the CRX‐320 is an exceptional mowing experience. Full width rollers front and rear and 3.2m wide, it's nothing short of a precision cut and outstanding stripe. Keeping the rollers as close as possible maximises ground contour following, with excellent floating capabilities to closely hug the undulations. The renowned CRX swing tip Gold Cut blades give you the superb cut and make for easy maintenance, while the wide‐ angle PTO gives you tight‐turn capabilities for increased manoeuvrability. All you need is a 35hp tractor and only one spool valve, which makes it economical to operate with the simplest machinery. Simple too is the belt tension for quick and easy maintenance and the cutting height adjustment, between 10mm and 100mm, is equally straightforward. Minimal and easy access grease points and shrouded PTO's equate to long service intervals.
Consider all the options and it's easy to see why the CRX‐320 is the optimum preference for the golf course. You use your tractor and therefore potentially halve the price compared to a self‐propelled machine. The wide cut width is a massive time saver and you don’t have to worry about tyre marks. The CRX‐320 is also made road‐going with an optional highway kit for road‐legal towing, so you can easily move from place to place. And with a 3‐year warranty, what more could you ask for?
