BLUE MOSQUE Commonly known as the Blue Mosque, this iconic building was the grand project of Sultan Ahmet I whose tomb is located on the north side of the site facing Sultanahmet Park. A cascade of domes and six slender minarets adorn the exterior whilst Blue Iznik tiles adorn the interior – hence the Blue Mosque name! Simply magnificent.
BOSPHORUS CRUISE Sometimes overlooked by tourists who aren’t in the know, this is a fabulous cruise along the Bosphorus Strait, the water that joins the Sea Of Marmara with the Black Sea. On one side is Europe, the other is Asia and both sides are lined with incredible seafront mansions. Stop off along the way, you can jump on and off, and visit several of the Ottoman Palaces. Take the tour by night and reflect on Istanbul awash with lights. Over the centuries the Bosphorus had been crossed by armies, intrepid merchants and adventurers, today it is used as a means to commute by the residents of Istanbul.
OTTOMAN PALACES There are many palaces to see on your cruise, but stop off and ex- plore one or two such as Yildiz Palace (Yildiz means star) was the residence of Abdul Hamid II from 1889 to 1909 or Beylerbeyi Palace meaning Lord of Lords.
