ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL AND
RESPECTED SUCCESS AND MOTIVATIONAL COACHES IN THE UK
Platinum Mining Corporation, then back to cosmetics as MD of a global brand before launching my own consultancy as a success coach and speaker. Back to the family breakfast table and we all decided to name my company LOWECO. Everything was printed and then we found out it means ‘stupid’ in Spanish. Anyway, we liked it, so we kept it! What drives you? We are all driven by two emotions that trigger motivation and the call to take action which turns our dreams into our reality. These are Inspiration and Desperation. Trust me Katie, I’ve been far more driven and taken far more action towards my goals when I have felt desperation over inspiration! When we feel desperate to achieve we dig deep for courage and think, “Not achieving this goal is now not an option”. To know and feel, “This Must Change, I Can Change and I Will Change” is powerful! It’s written on my office wall and it relates to the full spectrum of life’s goals: from relationships, health & wellbeing, wealth to career.
When I’m coaching someone and they tell me they feel desperate to achieve a goal which keeps eluding them – often shared with a negative voice and mind set – I always reply, “That’s brilliant, con- gratulations on feeling desperate, I’m thrilled for you! ” This usually elicits a shocked expression and jolts them out of a negative state of mind. It quickly changes their focus to a positive state, creating ideas and a plan of action. We each need to understand our personal motivation triggers, it’s covered in the book, as only then are we in control of the motivation required to take massive action and maximise our life. I use the words ‘massive action’ a lot as I love the saying, “Think BIG or stay in bed”. [Laughing]

I’m blessed that as a child I was spoon-fed an entrepreneurial spirit at the family breakfast table! My parents had their own business as manufacturing silversmiths, dad was a passionate visionary who loved and lived business. It was a contagious energy, in our home we were all involved! Career wise, I had three loves – business, beauty and diamonds – and I’m happy to say I’ve made my career from all three! [Laughing]
I told my careers teacher at school I wanted to work on the beauty counter at Harrods and being a Sheffield girl, she told me to lower my expectations. I don’t think she knew where Knightsbridge was, [laughing] so I stopped listening to her. After a two-year business course I joined the world of cosmetics as an in-store beauty consultant and three years later I was promoted to UK Sales & Education Director, UK and Paris (Nina Ricci). I was then headhunted by De Beers as Director of Education working for the South African

How would you define success? Success is an inside job; it starts in your mind and thoughts. Success has a personal definition for everyone, but most people don’t have a personal definition, and they should!
