INTERVIEW - SHARRON LOWE

definition. Success is not based on ego or possessions. True and lasting success comes from the emotions and feelings you experience, like self-worth, belief, passion, excitement, contribution, empowerment, growth and most importantly, feeling personal fulfilment, as without this there is no success, only results.

What is the core message of the book? That all actions and results first start life in your mind! Therefore, both success and failure begin in your mind, so we had better learn how to conquer and control it! Your thoughts trigger your emotions and feelings, your can do or can’t do attitude. This triggers how motivated you are and your level of motivation triggers your actions or non- actions, which in turn trigger your results, which create your LIFE.

So, let’s go back to where it all begins…in your mind. Check your thoughts often throughout your day, as they are creating your life now. I was once asked, “Are my thoughts important?” I replied, “No, important doesn’t come close to describing the critical impact that your thinking has on your life; it’s like saying, “Is oxygen useful?” [Laughing] The impact of living with gratitude is another core message of the book. Thoughts act like a boomerang. Positive thoughts = positive actions. Our thoughts; our choice. Thank goodness! [Laughing]

From global stages and conferences to working with individuals; is each equally rewarding? I recently presented the power of Mind Makeovers to an audience of 2000 entrepreneurs in Birmingham which resulted in 2000 voices in the audience united in saying, “I can, I will, I decide, I choose!” It was a life experience for me. In the following weeks, hundreds of people contacted me after doing the book’s exercises and shared that it had had a giant, life-changing impact on their goals and fulfilment. Even Amazon sold out of books on the day. I’ve also coached individuals; one winner of a magazine competition, went from crippling anxiety and fear at public speaking to standing on stage at her work conference and speaking in a clear, calm voice to over 300 people! When you change your thinking, you change your world.

What motivated you to write the book? Well firstly, I got myself into the motivation mindset of desperation [Laughing] and not writing the book was not an option for me! And

there was a trigger. I was speaking at a global conference in Paris and introduced onto stage in both English and French. Somewhere in the French version the audience believed I had written a book – I hadn’t! I had written a training book and film for this company. Afterwards, people asked me, “What’s the name of your book? How can we get a copy? ” My level of desperation and motivation was off the scale, as I hadn’t written one! Travelling home on Eurostar, instead of feeling immense fulfilment at having spoken, my only focus was, “I don’t have a book and I need to write one”. I stepped off the train having written down my goal and plan. The book project started that night in my mind, the next day it was on my vision board and two years later The Mind Makeover was written, serialised in YOU magazine and published with global worldwide rights sold.

How did you come up with the title? That was the easy part, it was writing the book that took two years. [Laughing] We’re told via TV and media to give our lives a makeover, from our house to our appearance, yet who tells us how to makeover the single greatest asset we each have, the one that controls our lives, our mind? Who can remember a topic on the school syllabus called ‘The power of your mind and how to live a successful, happy and fulfilled life’? I wrote The Mind Makeover, The Answers to The Best You Yet!’ for myself, so I’d have my own roadmap, guide and set of tools to take full charge of my thoughts and mind. As a consequence, and total joy, I get to share this mind roadmap globally with tens of thousands of readers in many countries, translated into many languages. It’s the greatest fulfilment in my life yet! For 18 years I have run confidence workshops called Mind Makeover evenings for young women living at Centrepoint homeless projects, so the title Mind Makeover was already a big part of my heart.

I don’t want to spoil the book for those who haven’t read it, but you give people ‘the tools’ they need to make the change in their lives and fortunes. If you could pull out just one tool outlined within the book what would it be? Oh goodness, only one Katie? [Laughing] Let me offer your readers what I offer my conference audiences: The 7-day challenge! For the next seven days treat your mind with the same commands you use on your computer and experience the phenomenal impact it has. First: File and Save in your mind and thoughts all the good,
