TONBRIDGE SPECIAL 055 Y DID

A MESSAGE FROM

TONBRIDGE & MALLING MP TOM TUGENDHAT

Tonbridge really has got it all – fantastic schools, beautiful parks, wonderful cafes and restaurants, a fantastic community feel and even a castle. And yet it’s still continuing to grow, and get better.

Recent regeneration has

seen Tonbridge’s vibrancy as a once small town, increase. In recent years we’ve seen an infl ux of independent cafes and restaurants opening, not to mention a rise in entrepreneurial projects like the Old Fire Station and Tonbridge Creates. This increase has made the town an economic, cultural and creative hot spot, and its change from fi ve years ago is apparent. Nowhere has this change

been more obvious than on our High Street. Yes, I’ll admit, the High Street has its fair share of problems when it comes to traffi c, but the wider, fl atter

pavements and new benches and bus stops have given our town a facelift and added to the reasons to visit. Elsewhere in Cannon Lane, the opening of new shops such as Go Outdoors, Home Bargains, and the soon-to-be Aldi, are giving Tonbridge a new lease of life.

I’m sure you’ll agree with me

that Tonbridge is a wonderful place to live, and I look forward to seeing the

regeneration continue, and

Tonbridge fl ourish

for many years to come.

OU KNOW? Originally named

Tonebrige, Tonbridge is pronounced Tunbridge.

Meanwhile, in other news from Tree of Hope, which INDEX Magazine is proud to be Media Partner for its 25th anniversary year, the charity has appointed Lee Vallins to the role of Deputy CEO, reporting directly to CEO Gill Gibb. As part of his

new role, Lee will be leading the Family support function of the charity, which involves building supportive and understanding relationships with

families and managing any issues. Lee, who is a bit of an adrenaline junkie, wanted to do something immediately to fundraise for Tree of Hope.
