Upton and Lytchett Allotment Association Can You Help Our Animals?


There are many ways to help us raise money to care for our rescue animals – sponsorship, donating and attending events, but did you know that volunteering


in our charity shops is also a way you can help us?


With three charity shops now open in Winton, Wimborne and Weymouth there is plenty of opportunity to join us. So, can you spare a few hours a week to help? If you are looking to get back into work, it is a great way to show experience on your CV and have some fun too.


Shop volunteering involves many varied tasks, such as sorting of donations, serving customers, window dressing and stocking shelves. We’re looking for enthusiastic people with a passion for animals and willingness to help make a difference. The money from every item sold goes towards helping around 1,200 rescue animals a year. So, if this sounds like you we’d love to hear from you. If you are in the area of one of our charity shops, please pop in, have a chat and pick up a volunteer application form.


We are also always looking for good quality, clean donations, so please bear us in mind when you are clearing out those cupboards!

If you are a resident in Upton or Lytchett Minster and would like an allotment, we have a few vacancies for ½ plot from time to time. Our fees are very reasonable and we have regular coffee mornings and events, such as our popular plant swap, which are free to members. We will be supporting this year’s Carnival on 14th July with a fl oat and stall. Last year we were pleased to receive the Community Award for our fl oat at the carnival. So we hope to see you all there again this year. We also support The Upton Horticultural Show, which this year is on Saturday 18th August, and many of us enter the various classes and help to steward the event. Why not arrange an informal visit and have a chat about renting an allotment yourself?
