utdoor cooking has undergone a huge transformation since the concept of the outdoor kitchen arrived from North America during the mid-noughties. With the


popularity of outdoor entertaining growing, today’s efficient outdoor kitchen is no longer just a barbecue but a fully-functional cooking area that can feature built-in appliances, including a refrigerator, food preparation areas, sink, storage, incorporated seating areas and differing cooking options such as pizza ovens and smokers.


There is a growing trend for using outdoor ovens and also for using them for creating more than just pizzas, so casseroles, curries, beautifully cooked golden vegetables or sweet pizzas topped with fruit and sweet treats for dessert, can all be made in a quality wood- fired oven. Wood-pellet grills are the latest thing from stateside, essentially because you can grill, smoke, bake, roast, braise and barbecue with the same cooker and set the heat for low and slow, or fast and hot cooking, all with a delicate woody flavour.


With such a wide range of cooking solutions now available, choosing outdoor equipment can take some consideration; from charcoal, gas, electric or wood-pellet cooking options. You are invited to a sociable open evening to celebrate over 30 years of Cedar Nursery in Cobham, together with the 5th anniversary of ‘Kitchen in The Garden’, specialists in outdoor kitchens and barbecues.

Be inspired by watching a demonstration of recipes for summer garden entertaining cooked in an outdoor kitchen by skilled Chef, Daniel Britten.


In between Daniel’s cookery demonstrations you will be able to relax amongst the summer planting and perhaps browse the wide range of BBQ’s, outdoor kitchens, garden furniture and water features, with expert advice on hand from the Cedar Nursery team.
