IACC’s Annual Americas Connect a Success April 16, 2018 – Lafayette Hill, PA - The 37th edition of the IACC Americas Connect conference, which celebrates innovation, took place at the Chubb Hotel and Conference Center and The Franklin Institute Philadelphia, and saw its strongest attendance in 10 years with close to 300 attendees. IACC is dedicated to representing the best meeting venues globally and is, by definition, the future of the meetings industry realized.
The three-day conference, hosted by former White House Director of Events Laura Schwartz, included an array of educational sessions, panel discussions in the form of campfires, workshops, culinary tours and tastings, as well as the annual Global Copper Skillet cooking competition. Each day keynote speakers and industry leaders held sessions on topics such as innovation, leadership, IACC's Meeting Room of the Future™ findings, food and beverage, social media, evolving technology and expanding networking circles globally. Monday night's Gala was hosted by the Chubb Conference Center's team and Garces Events along with Party Rental, Ltd, Arrangements Unlimited, Creative Coverings, PSAV, and more!
Sean Anderson, IACC Americas President, commented, “We saw record attendance at this years’ annual Connect conference, a 33 percent rise on last year, which validates the improvements we’ve made by directly involving the meeting planner and university student communities into our signature industry event.”
During day two of the conference the Global Copper Skillet competition took place at the Franklin Institute where the regional chapter finalists competed for the ultimate accolade, winners of which were Brian Wagner from Chauncey Hotel and Conference Center (Princeton, NJ), United States, and Leanna Higgs from Wyboston Lakes, United Kingdom (UK).
Operations Director James Russ from CCT Venues, London, UK described the Copper Skillet competition as, “Exciting, rewarding and a fantastic opportunity for chefs and venues who take part and can showcase the high standard of their F&B offerings. It's a great experience to both par- ticipants and those watching.”
