We’ve done it – runners who completed the Looe Pioneers’ Couch to 5k programme celebrate.
The programme was aimed at new runners who have either not run before or who have not run for a considerable amount of time, or returning from injury.

Nathan Giddy with the skate, thought to be the biggest caught off shore
Looe angler Nathan Giddy got more than he bargained for as a birthday surprise while on a visit to Scotland.
Nathan was on a common skate fishing trip with good friends Kris Dawson, also from Looe, and Edward Reilly, from Plymouth, in Oban, Argyll. After a three-hour struggle, he landed his first ever monster of a skate, which is thought to be the biggest male skate caught off shore, with a 65-inch wing span, and 83 inches nose to tail, estimated at 156-lb. The first day had seen Kris landing his first ever common skate, a male weighing 114-lb. Both fish were caught using whole Bluey bought from
Cornish supplier Jammys Sea Bait and using 5-6 foot pulley rigs.
Edward caught a skate and battled for nearly four hours trying to land it, without success. All fish were caught on a catch and release basis.
The friends caught a variety of fish while on the trip, including, spur dogs, thornies, ling and skate.
The friends have had a massive response on their youtube videos and on Facebook, hitting thousands of views and hundreds of comments. These can be viewed at Hooked on Fishing.
