The latest figures from the British Association
Back in the saddle
You may have heard that cycling may damage your sexual and urinary functions. But the latest research – reported in The Journal of Urology – claims otherwise. The study has found cyclists have similar sexual and
urinary health as non-cyclists. “We believe the results will be encouraging for
cyclists,” says Dr Benjamin Breyer, the study’s lead investigator. “Cycling provides tremendous cardiovascular benefits and is low impact on joints. We believe the health benefits enjoyed by cyclists who ride safely will far outweigh health risks.”
Anxiety is
on the rise among younger men
Young men in their 20s and 30s are most affected among males with anxiety, suggests a survey by Kalms Lavender. The survey also suggests up to 70 per cent of men with anxiety say it has an impact on their work and relationship,
with 80 per cent claiming it affects their social life and more than a half admitting it impacts their sex life.
“Anxiety is extremely common,” says Nicky Lidbetter, Anxiety UK’s CEO. “It is important therefore that those living with anxiety seek early help and that treatment interventions offered are acceptable and accessible.”
According to the NHS there are many things you can do to help reduce your anxiety, such as: going on a self-help course, exercising regularly, stopping smoking or
cutting down on the amount of alcohol and caffeine you drink. If you’re affected by anxiety, stress or
anxiety-based depression, you can get practical advice and information on support services that are available by calling Anxiety UK’s helpline on 08444 775774

of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons shows men are opting for cosmetic surgery to improve their faces rather than their bodies.
In 2017, the number of men having treatments such as liposuction, tummy tucks and breast reduction (to
correct ‘man boobs’) was down considerably. But those having facial procedures – such as facelifts, eyelid and brow lifts surgery – shot up (for instance the number
of men having brow lifts rose by 27 per cent compared to the previous year).
