Governmentminister is guest at Legion factory

IFBRAVERY was the name of the game, then the Transport Minis- ter’s decision to visit the RBLI’s factory atAylesfordwas highly ap- propriate. While visiting the area, Chris

Grayling’s first port of call was Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company, which produces signs for the country’s road and rail network. However, it was concern about

the proposed introduction of Thameslink services connecting West Malling with the capital that took centre stage. The minister ad- mitted later, in Maidstone, that he was sorry that the proposed service had been delayed, and insisted it will be arriving soon. He said: “I’m genuinely sorry to

those people who wanted it right now, but this is one of the most complex services in Europe and the last thing commuterswant is a serv- ice that cannot deliver. “Wewant to knowthat itwill do

what users are expecting from it, and thenwe can take a decision on howwe go about delivering that.”

Burberry Lane, near Kingswood,

has been targeted by waste dumpers for years, but in recent months, the problem has become more acute withwaste often strewn across the middle of the road. Cllr Gill Fort, pictured right, said:

“Every month we are having toi- lets, sinks and construction waste dumped in the village, specifically in Burberry Lane. We are now thinking of installing cameras on private land to oversee the problem area.” A recent event in Burberry Lane
