Ryarsh

Quarry plan The parish council confirmed that theywould be objecting to the proposal at the consultation. Itwas important that residents also submied their own responses, rather than just relying on the parish council response. If enough people responded, all issueswould be raised and KCCwould have to dealwith them. The parish council had been in touchwith neighbouring parishes to encourage themto respond to the proposal. The parish council had joined the CPRE andwas seeking advice fromthem. Workhouse Road The roadwas beginning to flood again at the end of the footpath wherework had been done before. PotholeApotholewas forming in Roughes Road, past theOld Vicarage. Sound barrier The parish councilwas to make representations about the lack of a sound barrier by theM20. Wateringbury

Council vacancy Following a secret ballot, it was declared that neither candidate had secured enough votes for co-option. Itwas agreed to ask both of themfor a bitmore information about themselves. Cllr Balfour said itwas disappointing thatmore people had not come forward to join the parish council – he felt that parish councilswere devalued for the responsibilities that they had. Resignation The chairman announced the resignation of Chris Talbert. Itwas agreed to send hima leer thanking himfor his support and hardwork. PCSOwelcomed The chairmanwelcomed PCSOWendy Stanley to themeeting. She said she had been a PCSOfor 14 years, and currently covered KingsHill and

Wateringbury. She did not divide her time between parishes butwentwhere andwhen shewas needed. She said two people had been arrested in relation to cars being damaged. Thieveswere also targeting tools fromvehicles, sheds, and stealing number plates. Pavilion The leasewith theWateringbury Sports and RecreationalAssociation (WSRA) stated that theywere responsible for insuring buildings on the playing field, which the parish council had been covering for a number of years. Itwas agreed towrite to theWSRAsaying that fromSeptember, the parish councilwould no longer cover the pavilion. Data protection The chairman and the clerk had aended ameeting about the newData Protection Regulations that come into force onMay 25. The parish council has to appoint a data protection officer. Therewere contractorswho could do this for about £150pa. Itwas suggested that parish councils could join together to take someone on. Village signs Two quotes had been received for four signs – one for signs, and one for signs and posts. After discussion itwas agreed to askMaidstone Signs to quote for replacing the posts aswell as the tops so that the two quotes could be compared. WSRAThe chairmanwas disappointed that therewould be no fete this year, but itwas hoped that therewould be one in 2019. The fete commieewas separate fromthe sports association and held any surplus funds in its own account. The chairman said itwould be helpful to see the fete commiee’s constitution. Cllr Ticknerwould raise this at the next commieemeeting. Village hall The issue of the CCTVwas delayed until any outcome on the future of the car park. Traffic pollution The chairman thanked the village hall for agreeing to site the pollution monitoring equipment in the foyer of the hall.
