mentorship.” That is so much what this asso- ciation is about. April 22 we will host a clinic on Herd Help. Jim McKay, one of the best cutters in this part of the country, will show us how the turn back and herd holders can help the cutter and his horse perform to his best advantage. Not only this, but he will show us how to work in different positions and situations and teach us to read those cows even better. On June 23, we will host our annual

Cow Horse Clinic at the Walker Ranch in Richmond. This clinic will focus on the Reined Work and the Boxing and the Fence Work. An excellent opportunity for both be- ginners as well as seasoned riders to learn more of the ins and outs of the Reined Cow Horse event. The use of multiple clinicians makes sure everybody is included all the time as opposed to standing around waiting for your turn. Then July 28-29 we have the Sand

Plains Invitational Herd Work Challenge. This will be a unique opportunity for our

members to gain more education on the cut- ting part of our Herd Work class. Participants will learn about the rules, flag work, and ac- tually showing your horse along with a cri- tique on your run. Each person will have a chance to compete 4 times and the high com- posite score for the weekend will be the win- ner. Clinician for the weekend will be Brian Kelly, well known cutter, instructor and NCHA judge. So when you combine these 3 events

along with our Tuesday nights, this will be a summer not only of having fun but to learn and be even more competitive!
