improvement in the final product. The installation includes a ModuScreen CP, a Twin Wire Press with shredder, as well as a high-consistency 1C refiner, to significantly enhance the sack paper properties. The existing low-consistency

preparation line, part of the T

he Mariysky Pulp and Paper Mill at Volzhsk in Russia is having an existing stock

PM1 sack paper line, upgraded by Andritz with state-of-the-art equipment for thickening and high-consistency refining. Start-up is scheduled for the

third quarter of 2018. Andritz will modernise

the existing two-stage, low- consistency refining process, which will achieve a significant

Flash drying line ordered by Stora Enso

Stora Enso has ordered a flash- drying line for its Imatra Mills from Andritz. The line includes a Twin Wire Press, fluffer, and flash dryer with startup expected in the first quarter of 2019. With an expected yearly

capacity of 400 admt per day, the drying system is designed to gently process mechanical pulp fibres, at the same time using the energy flows available to optimum benefit. The high-efficiency cyclones, in combination with a scrubber, will reduce emissions to the lowest

possible level says Andritz. The Andritz Twin Wire Press is said to enable the highest dryness ahead of the flash dryer. More than 600 presses have been sold and installed worldwide to provide dewatering performance for any kind of fibrous material at any freeness level and with high discharge consistencies of up to 50 per cent. Stora Enso Imatra Mills, a member of the Stora Enso Group, consists of two production units: Kaukopää and Tainionkoski. Together, they employ around

1,000 staff and produce one million tons of board and paper annually. More than 90 per cent of production is exported, mostly to countries in Europe, but a substantial share is also exported to south east Asia. Imatra produces mainly board for beverage cartons and food service board for paper cups and various food packaging types.

January/February 2018

TwinFlo refiner, supplied in 2015, will remain in the layout. Engineering, training, and advisory services for mechanical installation work, commissioning, and start-up are also part of the project. The sack paper production line has a capacity of 175 bdmt per day and uses a mixture of unbleached hard- and soft-wood as raw material. The Mariysky Pulp and Paper Mill

produces wrapping paper, sack paper, writing paper, packaging paper, and corrugated board.
