Pulp Paper & Logistics COMMENT W

elcome to the January-February issue of Pulp, Paper & Logistics, the first for the 2018 year. Having now recovered from the extended Christmas and New Year shut downs (and some

major spinal surgery) I am back to face another great year. All too often we can forget about how difficult it is for mill

owners to schedule maintenance while keeping up with product demand and fulfilling essential orders from customers. This all takes planning and scheduling by both staff and external specialist suppliers of key services to work in tandem to meet the tight window of opportunity and complete any essential works. This year we will be looking at the ways in which this can be better organised.

Looking forward it is going to be another interesting year for

our readers with the new and first ever Pulp, Paper World Forum in Amsterdam from 25-26 April (www.pulppaperworld.com), followed the next month by Pulpaper Helsinki from 29-31 May (pulpaper.messukeskus.com), and Zellcheming in Frankfurt from 26-28 June (www.mesago.de/en/ZEX/home.htm) followed by the 25th-anniversary MIAC show at Lucca in Italy from 10-12 October (www.miac.info/en/). All this and then we will be celebrating the 50th issue of Pulp, Paper & Logistics.

Turning attention to our next issue for March-April, if you want

to contribute any news or features please ensure that they arrive no later than 12 March to ensure that we can consider them for inclusion.

Subject matter to be covered includes machine clothing (including rolls, wires, felts, belts, ropes and blades), coating & converting; and pumps, valves and drives.
