SCA’s Container Express calls at Oxelösund

A

new destination has been added by SCA to its container traffic between

Europe’s leading container ports of Rotterdam and Sweden. SCA’s container vessels, MV SCA Tunadal and MV SCA Munksund, will make a weekly port call at Oxelösund. This will create a new, regular and efficient transport service for goods from the European continent to the Stockholm region. While SCA’s RORO vessels already make port calls

to Oxelösund, container traffic will be a new addition. “Our container traffic has risen steadily in recent years,” says Nils-Johan Haraldsson, director of logistics marketing and business development at SCA. “The transport of industrial goods to the continent has increased and we have been able to build larger and more effective container transport solutions. At the same time, demand for sustainable and reliable transport solutions has grown, especially for

consumables to the major market of Greater Stockholm.” SCA’s Container Express will call at Oxelösund at the beginning of the week, to meet retailers’ needs to stock up before the busy trading days at the end of the week. “Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe and a hub for goods flowing all over the world,” says Haraldsson. “We ship industrial goods from northern Sweden to Rotterdam and can efficiently bring consumables back in both shortsea

and deepsea containers on the same vessel. We have very positive experience of similar traffic in Helsingborg.”

SCA Logistics started a container feeder service from Rotterdam to Oxelösund in December. First call with MV SCA Tunadal.
