‘FundEd definitely offers great value for money!’

‘I

n response to budget restrictions, we began actively fundraising for our academy last year. FundEd was recommended to me by a colleague,

 things I registered with when I took on my role as Development Manager. I have had several successes with the

grants featured on the website, with £750 for new keyboards from EMI, £540 for new Christian textbooks from the Jerusalem Trust and £308 for our STEM club from the Institute of Physics. As the grant schemes featured on the website all support education, I know I can go to FundEd and will quickly be  closing dates and criteria, to help me decide whether to pursue it further. The bid-writing advice is invaluable, as

raising money from grants isn’t something that I’ve done before. Although I had a vague idea, the guidance helped me focus my energies in the right direction. I have written successful bids to the Heathrow Community Trust for new Duke of Edinburgh equipment and Blue Spark

for funding towards production scenery. Thanks to the business partnership

guidance, I secured sponsorship for the school production and worked with a local restaurant on a fundraising event, at which our food technology students cooked a three-course meal for guests. While our Friends Association runs

small-scale events, my role means we can complement their fundraising with larger-scale action. We are constantly seeking funding, and much of my attention is on our SEND students and how I can bring extra resources into the school for them. My next priority is sporting equipment and a cricket strip. 

value for money. The information is so relevant and thought-provoking, and I am constantly checking in to see if there is  much easier to use than other fundraising resources I have access to, and I would thoroughly recommend it to other schools!’ Sheelagh McCarthy, Development Manager, Thamesmead School, Shepperton (1,017 pupils)
