NEWS NEW! DfE SCHOOLS
BUYING HUBS The DfE is piloting a new initiative to provide Schools Buying Hubs to help schools with more complex buying activities. This service will initially be piloted for schools in the north-west and south-west from February 2018. The services offered by the hubs will
include: expert advice and guidance on procurement and purchasing; help with complex contracts, such as catering and cleaning; promotion of local collaboration and aggregation, where there is an opportunity to reduce costs. Schools in the two pilot areas should register before 1 June 2018. Participation is free during the pilot period. Go to
goo.gl/DfP4Uw. For schools outside the pilot area, one
of your local school business professional networks could provide the buying support you need. Networks provide an opportunity to save money and share best practice and knowledge. To find a network near you, email the DfE Schools Commercial Team on
CG.Communciations@
education.gov.uk.
200+ JOIN OUR NEW
FACEBOOK GROUP As part of our aim to inspire and inform school leaders, we have set up a FundEd Facebook group, where you can share your fundraising and income generation strategies. The group acts as a safe space where you can swap and share ideas and advice with other school business leaders. When joining, we ask that you complete your school name and job title, as this is our way of keeping unwanted guests out and ensuring that we have a focused, targeted membership. Visit
facebook.com/groups/ funded4schools/ to join the discussion. And why not follow us on Twitter at @funded4schools, too!

GET SET TO LEARN!
Originally set up for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Get Set is now the official youth engagement programme of the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association. Get Set offers a wealth of free resources for schools, suitable for students aged five to 19. All the core subjects are covered – including science, art, literacy, maths, English and humanities – and filters help teachers to easily find resources by age or by subject. From athlete fact files and
classroom activities, to assembly resources, films and certificates, there are many ways in which to enrich lessons. And with the new
‘Values Awards’ initiative, students are encouraged to explore the Olympic and Paralympic Values while developing key life skills. On top of that, there are exclusive prizes to be won, from goodies for your classroom to special athlete visits for your school. Visit
getset.co.uk to get involved!
