Students can win £100 (plus £500 for their school) by exploring copper’s essential role in our daily lives, and as a key component in the innovations that will shape our future. Copper surrounds us – it’s in our phones and tablets, the walls of our houses, even inside our bodies – yet we rarely notice it. This competition calls on students to design a poster

A nationwide drive to get primary school children moving, Active Kids Do Better encourages pupils to be active for a least an hour a day. The new initiative will support schools and parents by delivering resources for use both at school and at home.

Age 5 to 11 years
Pupils are pledged £5 and have between 4 and 29 June to set up a mini business. Online resources are available to help teachers plan and run the challenge. The budding entrepreneurs repay the £5 pledge at the end of the challenge, keeping the profits.

Better Energy School Awards

The awards aim to assist and encourage environmental education, promoting cross-curricular work. Groups of young people can submit projects across a range of environmental themes. More than 50 cash prices – from £100 to £5,000 – can be won.

Help scientists at the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) understand the relationship between climate, the availability of invertebrates, and how this impacts UK bird numbers and their migration patterns. This activity is curriculum linked and will help develop analytical and scientific research skills.
Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6
One in ten children around the world have to collect water from a muddy pond – help stop this by signing up to WaterAid’s non-uniform day with a difference. Register your school’s interest and receive free resources, including craft activities, curriculum-linked lesson ideas, posters, stickers, and more!
