The High School Chorus Festival took place November 28th-December 1st. It was a very successful event with 22 choirs from 17 schools participating! We

tions will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, with a snow date of Sunday, Janu- ary 7, 2018, at Paramus High School. The window to register on-line for


the Junior High Region Chorus is Novem- ber 27-December 15, 2017. All signature pages and payment must


be postmarked by December 22, 2017. The Junior High School auditions will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Clifton High School. (Snow date, Sunday, February 4, 2018.) We would like to thank Bryan Stepneski and Clif- ton High School for hosting the auditions and the chorus division audition chair, Ms.Cara Palomba from Schuyler-Colfax Middle School in Wayne. We are still looking for people to help

Band The high school auditions will be

cert will be held at Parsippany Hills High School on January 28, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. Ricky L. Fleming, Associate Profes- sor of Music and Director of Bands at Buf- falo State University, will be conducting

the wind ensemble and Jeffrey Bittner, Di- rector of Bands at Mahwah High School, will be conducting the symphonic band. The Junior High School auditions will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Clifton High School. The Junior High School Concert will


be March 4, 2018 at John H. Walker Mid- dle School, in Nutley. J. Craig Davis from William Paterson University will conduct the Junior Symphonic Winds and the Ju- nior Concert Band will be under the di- rection of David Walsh, band director at Leonia Middle School. This year’s High School Region


Concert Band Festival will be held March 20, 21 and 22, 2018. Hosts include Parsippany Hills, Randolph, West Essex and Verona High Schools. The Junior High School Concert Band Festival will be held March 28 at West Essex High School and Westwood Jr./Sr. High School. Thank you to all our hosts and all participating ensembles. Special thanks to our festival coordinators John Maiello, Pete Bauer and James Lawrence. The seventh annual NJSMA Elemen-


tary Band Festival will take place on Satur- day, May 5, 2018 at South Orange Middle School. Sixth graders from north jersey who have been nominated by their direc- tors will rehearse and perform a concert in a one-day festival. Bands will be conduct- ed by Brian Michalowski of H.B. White- horne Middle School (Verona), and Jenna Hanratty of Eric S. Smith Middle School (Ramsey). Special thanks to our festival coordinator Jennifer Wise and librarians Dan Halpern and Brian Michalowski. Directors who would like to suggest


a new high school or junior high school solos for future auditions are encouraged to do so. The process for having a new solo considered is to contact the band chairs and provide a copy of the music for them.
