DART OPTICAL .Independent Optometric Practice

Dart Optical is Dartmouth’s only Independent Optometric practice. It changed hands in late 2016 when Simon and Marianne retired. Qualified Opticians Tom Bath and Sharon Maunder are now at the helm, both joining at the start of 2017. Justine Prentice, receptionist and technician, is the third member of the team.

Where did you previously work? Tom: ‘I’m a qualified optometrist and have been practicing for nearly 20 years, undertaking all aspects of optometry including post refractive surgery work. However, I’m happiest in an independent community practice like Dart Optical.’

Sharon: ‘I am a qualified Dispensing Optician and have been in the profession for 29 years. I have a wide range of experience, having held various management roles in both the independent and multiple sector.’

What do you offer at Dart Optical? Tom: ‘We carry out thorough eye examinations as well as fitting all types of contact lenses. We have the

very latest equipment including an OCT which takes a deep scan of the eye, showing up potentially serious conditions including Macular problems and Glaucoma that you just don’t see in a normal eye examination.
