Many people love the all-inclusive nature of many cruise lines, the buzz and excitement of a large ‘resort’ ship, with all the amenities that such ships provide and the first rate entertainment. Others recoil in horror at the thought of such an experience and certainly a large number of our customers will only consider a cruise in smaller vessels. Everyone is different but, as I say, there is a cruise for everyone and every taste. As travel agents, we are always

searching for new and exciting destinations or ‘different ‘ holidays with which to tempt our clients. That is why,


here is a cruise holiday for everyone. That might seem like a contentious statement, but I


when we were invited on board the vessel ‘Variety Voyager’ for a tour and lunch earlier in the year, we jumped at the chance. Variety Cruises is a family owned and run line, which was founded in 1949 by the visionary Diogenes Venteopoulos and whose son, Lakis, is now the President. Diogenes had a vision that the journey at the centre of a cruise would combine exploration of some very special and unique destinations with educational enrichment whilst enjoying the comfort and advantages


of small ship sailing. In the early days the vessels were wooden. Today, while the Company still very much retains the small ship ethos and culture, the ‘fleet’ has grown to eleven steel hulled state- of-the-art SOLAS safety certified yachts, each uniquely designed and crafted so as to have their own identities. The largest, Variety Voyager, hosts no more than 74 guests, the smallest, Callisto, just 34. Clearly, the heritage that belongs to


the Variety Cruise Line shines through and has brought much success. Variety
