Welcome to the November issue

This month we remember those who have sacrificed so much for us. See pages 10 and 18 for details of our local Remembrance events and page 40 for details of a Remembrance concert.

As we move deeper into Autumn, lots of our advertisers and community groups are starting to talk about Christmas. The annual Broadstone Christmas Lights Switch On is on Thursday 30th November at 6pm and the Christmas Parade follows shortly after on Saturday 2nd December (pg40). Keep an eye on our Facebook page for full details of both events.

We welcome new columnist Peter Jones in this issue (pg26), who writes about the increase in isolation and loneliness in our community – particularly as the days become shorter and darker. He encourages us all to take the time to check on our neighbours and friends a little more often. Someone you know might be interested in the Corfe Mullen Luncheon Club or Monday Club? The details for both can be found on page 37.

The darker evenings also provide cover for unwanted visitors. There is an increase in burglaries at this time of year and Guardall Security Systems (pg27) would be happy to discuss your security arrangements with you.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue shares

information about their barn redevleopment on page 46 and encourage you to ‘raise a pony for a pony.’ Also raising funds is Alison King from Corfe Mullen (pg20). This year she has been running to raise money for a friend to receive life-changing multiple sclerosis treatment. If you’d like to help, she would certainly

welcome your support. Until next time,

Karen In this issue...
