The Pioneer View Dear Friends,
As we enter autumn, the mornings are darker and generally the days are shorter and people can often feel more isolated and loneliness can appear an even bigger mountain to climb.
It is these two themes I want to address in the article. Isolation and loneliness seem to be a signifi cant and growing challenge to communities like Corfe Mullen. Many people who I meet on a daily basis in our community report that they often feel isolated and lonely.
It seems to be something that as a community we are continually wrestling with. It’s often hidden and often goes unnoticed. I would like this article not only to raise the challenge facing communities like Corfe Mullen, but to suggest that we look out for our neighbours. We may not have seen them recently, when is the last time we saw them? Can we just pop in and say hello and let them know we are around?
This is all part of growing a compassionate community, simply looking out for our neighbour once in a while. It’s a step towards reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.
This is one of the key drivers for developing social events and groups around Corfe Mullen. As an open invitation, why not come and join the carpet bowls event In Corfe Mullen. Meet other people, while having some fun. Tea, coffee and refreshments are available as well. There is a small charge of £3 to cover the hire of the hall. We meet every 4th Friday in the Village Hall. Come and join us!
