Lockyer's Middle School
We are pleased to say that Lockyer’s Middle School has got off to a fl ying start this term, with a full roll as well as a number of other families on appeal for places.
We were also privileged to have a visit from Dan Freedman – acclaimed children’s author and football journalist – who entertained the whole school on Thursday 21st September with an insight into his career. A reluctant reader as a boy, Dan shared his struggles with English and how he became inspired to start writing stories of his own, and outlined the determination and resilience needed to become a success, both in school and in a career.
Lots of eager hands were up asking questions during the Q&A, which was followed by a reading from the latest Jamie Johnson book. Children who had ordered a book met Dan during the book signing at the end of the afternoon. Many thanks to the Friends of Lockyer’s, who were able to fund this event.
Computer Problems?
In other school news, we are pleased that following signifi cant investment from the local authority and ourselves, our new music rooms and community hub are now open. The old, run- down youth centre has now been repurposed so that it can serve the school as well as other local community groups in the future.
