County Councillor Update Dear Residents,

We are very fortunate in Corfe Mullen to have a selection of good schools and I have good news from all of them.

Corfe Hills has made the permanent appointment of Phil Keen as Head Teacher and I am sure he will guide the school onwards from strength to strength. The results this summer were very good, bucking the national trend which was downwards, and they are justifi ed in saying they are the most successful comprehensive school in the local area. They have welcomed a new intake of students, in a new uniform, with a largely new senior management team and everyone has settled down well and happily, the buzz around the school is of cheerful teamwork. At the end of November the school production in the Lighthouse Theatre will be Sweet Charity, please book your tickets to see the school at its best, tickets are available from the school or from the Lighthouse.

Rushcombe First School also had excellent results last year, above the average for Dorset and well above the National average, the children, the staff and also the parents are to be congratulated. There are one or two vacancies on the Governing board, as existing Governors retire, so if you are interested in joining this successful school, please go in and enquire from the School Offi ce.

Henbury View First School also had excellent results, above the Dorset average and well above the national average, our young children are really thriving and working hard in Corfe Mullen! Henbury View is justifi ably proud to have achieved the status of Rights Respecting School, level 2, again this year, they fi rst won this award in 2011. It is a challenging award which covers a great many areas, if you are interested in the details of this just ask any of the pupils, they are the experts!

Lockyers School, established in Corfe Mullen since 1706 and successfully teaching our children since before any of us were born, has started the new school year full of enthusiasm and all are now busy preparing for the Christmas Fair on 1st December.

With kind regards Susan Jefferies
