National Cutting Horse-Sanctioned Event Coming to Brazos County
The Brazos County Expo Complex will be
bursting at the seams the week of October 3rd through the 8th, as the Michelle Lynn Holsey Foundation begins its annual National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA)-sanctioned six-day cutting at the Brazos County Expo Complex, in Bryan/College Station. The event has expe- rienced phenomenal growth since its creation in 2006, and moved to Brazos County in order to accommodate the ever-increasing number of competitors who will be coming from all across the U.S., and will be vying for prize money, belt buckles, and Jeff Smith champion saddles. For 2017, there is in excess of $52,300 added mon- ey.
In addition, on Saturday, October 7th, a Gala
Dinner, Live & Silent Auctions, and Concert… all of which have grown exponentially since the Foundation was established in 2006. The quality of auction items is beyond belief, ranging from jewelry to guns, hunting and fishing trips. This year’s entertainer is former Top Male Vocalist of the Year, Mark Wills. Mark is a contemporary

The Foundation’s purpose is to assist men, women and children in their quest to battle can- cer and other debilitating diseases/conditions by providing need-based grants for treatment,

medication, travel, lodging, utilities, and general living expenses. Since its origin, the Foundation has provided grants in excess of $631,400 to many deserving individuals. Assistance is not limited, in other words, wherever there is a need. In addition to grants, every year five $1,000 scholarships are presented to hard-working graduating seniors with financial need, and over $47,500 in scholarships has been awarded to de- serving youth over the years.
