For smaller members of the household, Halloween can be so exciting… a chance to get on their scariest disguise, go trick or treating, head to spine-tingling events and stock up on a whole cauldron of sweets! Here’s our pick of the best things going on this ghostly season to indulge in some family-friendly haunting.

Have a ‘wail’ of a time on Maidenhead’s Zombie Walk

Get into the haunting spirit of the season by staggering along to join the Zombie crowd at 3pm at the Bell Pub on Saturday 28th October. You’ll be trained and zombified to begin your walk at 5.30pm which ends outside the town hall. If that’s not enough to put the frighteners on you, join them for the biggest Halloween party in town, the Maidenhead Monster Mash! Taking place at the Anchor Pub, York Road, you can enjoy scarily good live music, food and games from 6pm until late. Don’t forget, you can carve your own pumpkin in Nicholson Shopping Centre from 11am too! W: www.enjoymaidenhead.com

Celebrate all things creepy at Cliveden

During October half term, from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th October, take the family along for an outdoor Hallowe’en trail at Cliveden. Little ones can get dressed up as eerie woodland sprites as they follow a natural trail through the woodlands. A spooky surprise waits at the end for children who complete the festive craft activity. Running all week-long, these fun drop-in sessions run daily from 11am-2.30pm and cost £3 per child. T: 01628 605069 W: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/cliveden
