EWAN Age: 10 Top used word in the playground: Legit (short for legitimate - an alternative to cool!) Favourite sweets: Haribo Tangfastics and Moams. Current school topic: Extreme environments - very hot and cold places around the world. Most interesting fact learnt: Antarctica is actually a desert and the coldest temperature ever recorded was -89 degrees Celsius.

TOM Age: 9 Most used abbreviations on texts: BRB (be right back), GTG (got to go), M8 (mate). Opinion on school dinners: Really good. RACHEL Age: 10 Favourite TV programme: Horrible Histories. Favourite sports: Rounders and athletics. I do athletics after school – I love running - it’s a great way to get rid of all my fizzy energy! Best part of school: Seeing my friends every day. Tell us a joke: How do nits get around? By itch- hiking!

Ben is 10, he’s in the Dartmouth Athletic Club and recently represented Devon in the South West Championships. He took part in the running and javelin events throwing the indoor foam javelin 18 metres and the outdoor vortex 29 metres. He plays football for Kingsbridge and Malborough, a popular club which provides qualified coaching for children aged 5 to 16 and competitive league football for over 7s. He recently picked up the Manager’s Player of the Season Award, which he’s very pleased with. He also plays for Torquay United Community Sports Trust on a Friday evening at Kingsbridge Community College. He says playing football makes him feel good inside and he tries to eat healthily so he can play well, although he admits he likes a treat every now and again: “Sometimes if we win a game Dad will let me have a KFC or McDonalds on the way home.”

AUBRY Aubry is 8, he plays football for Southampton Under 9s and Under 11s. Every Wednesday his dedicated dad picks him up from school and drives two and a half hours to his training session in Bath. They don’t get home until 10.30pm. Aubry has played quite a few matches; his favourite so far was against Newcastle. “I also loved playing away at Watford because we got to walk through a tunnel like professional players,” he says with a cheeky smile. He would love to meet Gareth Bale who began his football career at Southampton and now plays for Real Madrid. Aubry also plays for Kingsbridge and Malborough and he got the Player’s Player of the Season Award, although he says he thought he might get Most Goals Scored as he secured half of the 172 goals they scored during the season! Aubry likes to keep things healthy and his snack of choice after a game is a banana.
