The UK Quality Ash Association (UKQAA) has today announced that it is looking for a new Director to succeed Dr Robert Carroll who will retire later this year.
The UKQAA is the country’s leading authority on the use of quality ash in construction and engineering applications and represents a range of members from across the construction supply chain.
Dr Robert Carroll has led the UKQAA since 2012 and has been pivotal in shaping the association’s strategy, including extending its membership base to include ash producers and suppliers from overseas. In particular, Dr Carroll has worked to develop sources of ash supply following the continued closure of coal-fired power stations in the UK to meet environmental targets and support investment in low-carbon sources of energy generation.
Ivan Skidmore, Chair of the UKQAA, said, “Rob has been

fantastic for the UKQAA and has been instrumental in helping us increase the membership, champion quality ash use and safeguard future supplies - we’re sorry to see Rob go and wish him all the best for the future.
“We’re now looking for a new Director to take us into the next phase of the UKQAA’s strategy, and they couldn’t be joining us at a more exciting time. Even as coal-fired power stations close, new opportunities arise through importation and the recovery of stockpiled ash from now-closed power stations. Ultimately, what we need is someone who has the knowledge and creativity to capitalise on these opportunities and help ensure quality ash remains the foundation of good construction now and into the future.”

Eurocell - the UK’s leading manufacturer, distributor and recycler of window, door, conservatory and roofline products - has reimagined the way designers and specifiers access its BIM models. The result is the BIM Centre, where finding and downloading the right BIM models is quick and fast, and updates are delivered automatically.
Users can sign up free to the BIM Centre in a matter of minutes and then use Eurocell’s new search and filter tool to find the models they need. Rather than downloading models one-by-one, they all go into a BIM basket to be downloaded en masse at the end of the process.

The models downloaded by each user will also be stored in a personalised BIM Library for quick and easy access at a later date. And by signing up for automated updates, BIM Centre members will receive an email to let them know when models have changed.
If specifiers can’t find the model they need, the BIM Centre has a simple ‘Request a BIM’ function which will be handled by Eurocell’s technical support team - who will always be on hand to help with queries. Eurocell will also be showcasing some to provide inspiration and know-how.
