The Transit plant closed in 2013. However, Ford America sold the entire plant to Mountpark and only through Lambert Smith Hampton’s intervention was agreement reached for a six- acre part of it to be acquired by Jaguar Land Rover.

Graham Holland, LSH head of South Coast, explained that following JLR’s brief to find a suitable site for a 50,000 sq ft unit on approximately five acres,

LSH had identified the Ford site as ideal. Having ‘followed’ it for several years, LSH was ready to help negotiate the deal when the site became available.

“The best thing about this deal is its legacy. Automotive employment, around 150 jobs, will be back on the former Ford site,” said Holland.
