conference call/web meeting every four to six months, and more oſten if needed. Tis has been a big help, as it keeps us informed of any changes in the federal regulations and gives us a chance to update any processes.
• We have a local business website that all DERs can access, with current forms, FAA website link, hotlines, current drug and alcohol policy, etc. Your website is a very helpful way to stay current with your information, and can be designed according to your needs. In addition, all employees have access to it as well.
• We developed a local “Drug Council” from various business in our surrounding area, which meets once a year. Generally, we have a speaker, such as an MRO, emergency
room physician, or collection-site representative. The group shares any knowledge they receive from their audits, or different things they have learned from the FAA inspectors and/ or collection problems. DATIA is a great organization to belong
to, as well as a platform for receiving any updates for your Red Book. Essentially, a Red Book is the “bible of regulations” through DATIA, including: • All drug testing regulations updated within two weeks of a rule change
• Copies of proposed rule changes as published in the Federal Register
• Federal notices and guidance regarding drug and alcohol testing If you are new to the business, I would
strongly suggest you contact DATIA and order your subscription.
