Yappy Hours at the Ritz-Carlton Canine Companions for Independence,
“Celebrates the community of people and dogs that make it possible for Canine Companions to show that the most advanced technology capable of transforming the lives of people with disabilities has a cold nose and a warm heart.” This worthy national organization has many events because of their global reach and the way they change lives, so another of their fundraisers is worth mentioning. The Ritz- Carlton in Laguna Niguel plays host to several fab fundraisers throughout the year with two regularYappy Hour events remaining for 2017: One onThursday, August 24and another on Thursday, September 28. Each event honors the service and sacrifice made by our nation’s men and women in uniform by raising funds for the Wounded Veterans Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence. Haute hounds enjoy lapping up libations, thanks to water in his favorite flavor: Bacon, chicken, beef or vegan. Human guests can also relax with a glass of Mutt Lynch Unleashed Chardonnay, Merlot Over and Play Dead, or Chateau d’Og Cabernet Sauvignon, with cocktails, beer and a selection of barbecue items available for purchase. Come and celebrate those who have served and help to fund the canine companion program, which helps to welcome them home. Fullerton Dog Days Come and enjoy fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, handcrafted artisan products, live music and entertainment at The Fullerton Mar- ket. Admission is free as you enjoy an outdoor Beer and Wine Garden, crafts and activities, inside the Kids’ Korner, along with food vendors offering everything from fresh hummus and pita chips, to a surprising variety of on-site hot foods. August Dine Out Event Another part of No-Kill Los Angeles, this part of Adopt Me Rescue’s mission, is to rescue senior and special needs small dogs from local shelters, vet them and then match them with a perfect forever home. As with everything, money is needed to make that happen and to that end, they are hosting a Dine Out Event onFriday, August 18 at Tinhorn Flats Bar & Grill, 2623 W. Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank. Tinhorn Flats, Burbank’s oldest watering hole, plans to donate 20 percent of diner’s purchases to Adopt Me Rescue’s cause, so come on out and kick off your weekend with fresh seafood, quality steaks, ribs and gourmet burgers, authentic Mexican food, including salads and vegetarian options. No-Kill Los Angeles: Adopt Me Last year approximately 45,900 animals entered Los Angeles city shelters, of those, 35,200 left alive because they were rescued, returned to families or wereadopted. The other 10,700 were not so lucky and died as a result of being euthanized. Led by Best Friends Animal Society, No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) is an organization that strives to change those num- bers, by increasing the save rate for dogs and cats. Their plan is straightforward: Provide spay/neuter services where they are needed most so that fewer animals go into shelters and increase adoptions so that more animals are placed into new homes. Step by critical step, they believe collectively we can bring the number of pets killed in L.A. shelters to zero. Their overall goal? To educate about their cause, foster available dogs and cats, and rescuing in general! How can you help?
