LUST FOR LIFE Lana Del Rey Known for her dramatic, disillusioned and observant, beautiful voice, Lana Del Rey is a modern film noir singer. OnLust For Life, she harkens back in a fashion to the era of the late 1960s when “young girls are coming to the canyon” or simply The Mamas and The Papas era of musical influence. Lana dusts off the dark to create a positive vibe of hopefulness. Still tinged with her singular style, the title track “Lust For Life” is striking in its simple beauty. Available now.

BLIND Call it a guilty pleasure but there is still star quality to be found in the teaming of Demi Moore and Alec Baldwin. Their charisma brings to mind past roles such asMarried to the Mob starring Baldwin andIndecent Proposal starring Moore. Their sex appeal and spark was phenomenal back in the day. Though cliché and a bit over laden with twists, there is plenty of plotline in Blind to just enjoy the interactions of these two stars at this point in time.
Available August 15.
DARK MATTER Randy Newman You can bet when there is new music and lyrics from Randy Newman there are those who will admire his observant and clever philosophy through song by tuning in. Take a listen to “Putin” as it strums in with his Avalon touch of brass as Mr. Newman goes to town in his own way…Just like he did in “I Love L.A.” The skilled songwriter hasn’t lost an iota in presenting his unique take on the times and his feelings on life. Newman is a master at this. Available August 4.
A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING The War on Drugs With vocals by Adam Granduciel which cascade in like a cross between a young Bob Dylan and the tones of Tom Petty, The War on Drugs presentA Deeper Understanding. This is the band’s first album since 2014. The music is edged with a gritty and smooth texture and the lyrics are of a mature style with strong emotional thoughts behind them. There is solid guitar work on all accounts and the arrangements are just as vivid with a definite nod of musical appreciation to the past. Available August 25.

THE RACE TO SAVE ANIMALS IN PERIL Laura Schenone Laura Schenone presents a sad but ultimately triumphant story of how to right injustice towards animal cruelty.
