BIG BEAR ROMP Does a bear live in the woods? Well apparently, hun-

dreds of the bipedal type do and they’re congregating at The Lodge at Big Bear Lake fromThursday, August 17 through Sunday, August 20! Started in 2015, the goal of Big Bear Romp is “to bring hundreds of men back each year for mischief and more in the great outdoors,” in Southern California’s beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. The first “official” event follows during theRomp Weekend Kickoff Party inside The Lodge’s Cove Amphitheater, followed byMountain of Laughs Comedy Nightat The Lodge Ballroom, featuring the hilarious Leslie Jordan. Next isRomp in the Darkat the host hotel for “a little dark mischief” or dancing if that’s your preference. favorite street festival has been taking place in the heart of the gayborhood Hillcrest. I guess they must be doing something right! Join the annual celebration, billed as San Diego’s largest single-day street fair, onSunday, August 13, along with more than 150,000 of your best besties from noon to 11 p.m. A “massive” spirit’s garden with cocktails, beer, wine and games. Over 250 vendors selling things you didn’t know you needed, but once seen, you’ve “gotta have,” live headliner music, games and activities, more food than a fair’s midway, including an international food court, as well as DJs who will have you dancing along the many blocks of fabulous fun! Community is the theme for this fete and Hillcrest’s is as strong (and as fun) as ever and once again, for the fourth year in a row, you can dance the night away with some of Hillcrest’s hottest DJs, right under the Hillcrest sign! by a dedicated group of Massachusetts teachers who saw a need to improve an education system that all-to-often let its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) students fall through the cracks as they endured bullying and discrimination. On average, eight out of ten LGBT students suffer harassment for just being who they are and GLSEN’s continued mission is to change that. To do that in this age of renewed hostility, they work to change things at the Congressional level and inside The Department of Education, on state levels, as well as inside the hallways and offices of local school districts. Fundraising is a major part of making that happen and here in San Diego they are coming together for their 4th Annual Comedy Fundraiser onThursday, August 10, offering a fun wine and cheese reception before the show. Join them in supporting this worthy cause as you enjoy a hilarious night of comedy with some of Southern California’s best comedians such as: Sarah Burford, Manish Gupta, Jaleesa Johnson, Remington Scott Kienbusch, Leah Mansfield and the evening’s host, funny man Chet Sewell. Pointedly, this year will be the last of its kind for the unforeseeable future. Taking place fromFriday, September 1 through Sunday, September 3, it’s a celebration for those who wish to come together in their sobriety. As part the San Diego Feeling Good’s mission statement reads, it’s “Recogniz- ing that the rates of alcoholism and addiction are especially high in the LGBT community and that LGBT individuals seeking to recover from these addictions have needs and issues beyond those of the larger population. They come together in this annual roundup for workshops, recovery programs, 12-step meetings and other issues of interest to the LGBT community.” Come out and celebrate the final chapter of this powerful weekend event.
