Mrs & Mr Jones


Our very own couple, Mrs and Mr Jones, hosts our travel section. They thoroughly investigate destinations ideal for a little trip away revealing vital tips on a glamorous getaway and also provide the inside track to ensure the destination caters for a range of tastes and wallets. From the slickest city hangouts to peaceful boltholes, you won’t waste a moment planning your travels.


This month they visit Shoreditch


Having visited London countless times before, Mrs and Mr Jones were keen to see a different side from their usual West End hangouts. The hipster district of Shoreditch ticked all their boxes: arty, foodie and just a little bit cool.


GETTING THERE Mrs & Mr Jones made their way to London by train and then connected by tube to Liverpool Street. Alternatively, National Express offers numerous services throughout the day and night into Victoria.


SHOREDITCH Shoreditch is in the historic East End of London. While it was once considered a bit rough and ready, this district has undergone something of a major transformation and is now seen as a pioneer of ‘hipsterfication.’ But, as Mrs & Mr Jones found, it’s certainly not lost its urban edge.


STREET ART Mrs Jones persuaded Mr Jones to begin their weekend by joining one of ‘Shoreditch Street Art Tours’ guided walks. They met the rest of the group near Spitalfields Market. They could tell as soon as they started, how passionate and enthusiastic their guide was. The first stop was, unexpectedly, a lamppost just up the street.


Mr Jones had previously assumed that the stickered lampposts had been vandalised. But he had his eyes well and truly opened on the tour. Stickers are an alternative way for street artists to display their art and make it more available for the masses. One of the stickers on this post was by Shepard Fairey, who has been
