final 2017 Central Plains Region college rodeo sit- ting in fourth in barrel racing for the region. She had a good show and finished with the reserve buckle on April 27. Representing Southwestern OSU at the OK Panhandle State University in Guymon competition, Rachel qualified for 8 of the 10 short rounds and won 2 of them. She is rep- resenting the Bulldogs at the College National Fi- nals Rodeo in Casper, WY, June 11-17.

Faith Farris, Midway, rode Christine King’s
Reytheon to score 222 and to win the Junior Youth at the NCHA’s Scottsdale Nationals May 6 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Lewis Wray, Russellville, AR, was inducted
as the 2017 Friend of the Department of Animal Science at the University of Arkansas on May 9. He was chosen for his support of equine sports and the industry plus the western lifestyle.
Rhyn Smith, Royce City, received a Master
of Health Administration degree from Texas A&M University on May 12. Rhyn is currently clinic manager at HealthPoint family practice in Hearne. Her fiancé, Jacob Page, will receive his masters in structural engineering in December, also from TAMU. They plan to marry on Octo- ber 21.
Lensey Watson, Sheri Thomson, and
Whitley Vann, members of the University of Arkansas Ranch Horse Team, graduated from the university on May 13.
Levi Littlefield, Henrietta, was 6&U Dummy
Roping Champion at the Western Heritage Clas- sic in Abilene, May 13.
Meagan Ghormley, Bedias, graduated from
Texas Tech University May 20, with a degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence. She graduated cum laude and studied energy and environmental law.
Kathy Willeke Clay, San Antonio, will re-
tire on June 2, having taught eighth grade algebra and math for 35 years. She looks forward to de- parting early now for horse shows.
Losses Denise Boriack, Tomball, died Easter morn-
ing, April 16, having fought breast cancer. She graduated from Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. She was passionate about motherhood, horses, and our Lord. A fierce com- petitor, she always wore a smile and had a helping hand for anyone in need.
T.E Vinci, 75, passed away April 16. A res-
ident of Covington, LA, since 2000, his career working with horses exceeded 50 years. He was a long-time cutting horse competitor. A life NCHA member, his earnings were almost $200,000. Vinci was also a longtime judge and steward for

Malcolm Calaway, Alpine, died April 21 at
the age of 76. An APHA lifetime member, he served as that president in 1984, when he worked to strengthen youth and amateur involvement. He also served as a national director and on several committees. Memorials may be sent to Sunshine House of Alpine, 205 E. Sul Ross Ave, Alpine, TX 79830.
Meradas Little Suewas put to rest on April
21, 27 years to the day after she was foaled. She spent her last years under the devoted care of Penny Youngblood and Nancy Pearce, at Circle Y Ranch in Millsap. Sired by Freckles Merada out of Docs Hickory Sue, she had $670,098 NCHA earnings and was 3 times NCHA World Cham- pion and 1996 NCHA Horse of the Year. She is dam of 26 NCHA money earners of $1,490,354, with an average of $57,321.
Mike Plumlee, 64, Quitman, AR, died April
24. He was active in AR Arabian Horse Club. Tuesdays High Brow suffered an extreme
case of colic and died at the end of April. The stal- lion, by High Brow Cat and out of Ruby Tuesday, was owned and shown by Gary Walker Cutting Horses in Tehuacana. w
