17th-23rd June A packed programme of events includes a Grand Parade, which leaves Pierremont Hall at 1pm, making its way along the High Street to Victoria Gardens. See Queen Victoria in her carriage, and spot your favourite Dickens characters. Enjoy the Country Fayre (Saturday and Sunday 10am-6pm, weekdays 10am-5pm) with ‘curious cocktails’, Kent produce and living history performers. Vintage music hall available at The Pavilion, with the Festival Play (The Pickwick Papers) at the Sarah Thorne Theatre. There’s even a Dickens’- themed dog show! • Visit

Ramsgate Festival, 22nd-30th July
The Festival encompasses everything great about Ramsgate summer fun: Best Fest, organised by People United; Ramsgate Week Sailing Regatta, organised by the Royal Temple Yacht Club – and Ramsgate Carnival, now in its 91st year. Nine days of entertainment with a mix of outdoor arts, music, shows, exhibitions, workshops, walks and talks. This year’s theme is Dream Marine with events including opera, a twilight procession, and a one-day installation of the 30m long ‘Ramsgate Slide’. The Regatta starts with the Round the Goodwin Sands Race (23rd July). • Visit

Herne Bay’s Sci-5 by the Sea, 25th June,
11am-5pm The South East’s biggest celebration of the genre is in its fifth year – and is better than ever: celebrity guests from TV shows and film (Game of Thrones, Fantastic Beasts and more), sci-fi characters, gaming, interactive attractions and extraordinary film props – all offering some amazing photo opportunities. New this year is a roving, rolling, full scale

Broadstairs Folk Week, 11th-18th August
In its 52nd year, Broadstairs Folk Week celebrates English and multi- cultural folk music and dance. With venues all over town, including the 600-seater Concert Marquee in the town’s park, Broadstairs will be bursting at the seams with music- loving people.
Headliners include Lau, The Dylan Project, Faustus, the Demon Barbers, Rusty Shackle, Phil Henry and Hannah Martin, Tim Edey, Rod Clements and Ian Thompson, and the Keston Cobblers Club. In addition there will be dances and ceilidhs, over 70 workshops covering music, dance and song from beginners to advanced, and a Craft and Music Fair at Victoria Gardens.
