SUMMER COOLERS Awards for The Anchor
The Anchor Inn at Wingham has been announced as the runner-up in PRS for Music’s national Music Makeover competition. Having launched in 2009, it has become a major music industry award and The Anchor Inn competed with more than 300 music pubs and venues across the UK. The judging panel was particularly
impressed by the diversity of music events and the fact that The Anchor Inn supports touring artists and international acts, as well as local musicians.
As well as the kudos attached to a prestigious music industry award like
this, they will receive £5,000 to invest in sound equipment to further improve ‘The Anchor Arts Centre’, a 100-capacity venue situated upstairs in a previously defunct function room.
In addition to this, landlady Michelle Abbott has been awarded The Jack Jolly Community Award by Wingham Parish Council, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the fabric and life of the Wingham parish community. Bryan Curtis, Chairman of Wingham
PC, presented Michelle with the award at the recent Parish Assembly.
Just in time for summer, Hotel Chocolat have launched two new limited edition vodka liqueurs – delicious enjoyed straight over ice, with a splash of tonic or as a summer cocktail with chilled prosecco. Cocoa Vodka, distilled in small batches in East Anglian sugar beet and Saint Lucian cocoa shells, the carefully crafted vodka comes in raspberry or lemon flavours – using the finest Kentish raspberries and Spanish lemons to add a pleasant zingy finish.
