Testing for Dangerous Mold in Home and Office

R

ealtime Lab (RTL) is a certified clinical laboratory special- izing in the testing of indoor environments to determine if the inhabitants are being exposed to molds or mycotoxins, and clinical tests that determine which toxins and how much are entering the body. According to RTL Associate Laboratory Director Dr.

Shalini Muralidhar, the mycotoxins that Realtime Labs tests for include the top dozen or so that negatively affect humans. Some cause iden- tifiable diseases or health problems, some weaken the immune system without producing symptoms, some act as allergens or irritants, some have no known effect

on humans and some are lethal. One product from RTL is an environmental mold and

mycotoxin assessment (EMMA) test for the home or office environment. It is purchased online and mailed to the con- sumer that, after swiping dust samples, mails it back. Results are received in about 14 days. RTL also offers clinical tests that utilize urine to de- termine the degree to which mycotoxins are present in the body. While some states require the clinical tests be adminis- tered by a medical doctor, there are currently 26 states where consumers can do it themselves.

Inactive Lifestyle Accelerates Aging G

etting off the couch and just moving may help slow the aging process in women that do not lead active lifestyles. Researchers from the Univer- sity of California at San Diego measured the telomere lengths of white blood cells in 1,481 women between the ages of 64 and 95. Telomere lengths are a measure of aging within genes. After adjusting for other health and lifestyle factors, the re- searchers found that the women with less physical activity had

shorter telomere lengths than those with more active lifestyles. www.NaturalAwakeningsLI.com

Yoga for the Health of It Y

oga serves the body in several ways. Many health practi- tioners recommend yoga as an easy yet important means of combating stress and a way to stimulate bones. Assuming the body is getting enough calcium, yoga will encourage the bones to retain calcium through the exerting of pressure, leading to more production of bone mass. Yoga helps with bone health better than some other forms of exercise because it puts just the right amount of exertion on the bones. Yoga is a great all-body workout, involving all joints and bones. Weight-bearing poses that are great for the bones include inversions, arm balances, and standing poses. They affect the whole spine, arms, shoulders, elbows, legs, knees, ankles and feet, encouraging full range of motion. Incorporate yoga into your weekly routine. A good way

to schedule this is to do your yoga every other day, alternat- ing with an aerobic exercise on the in-between day. This will move you forward on the path to good health and a more fulfilling life.
