Bell Boeing Awarded Contract for 99 V-22 Osprey Tiltrotor Aircraft


The Bell Boeing V-22 Program, a


strategic alliance between Bell Helicop- ter Textron Inc. and Boeing, has been awarded a five-year U.S. Naval Air Sys- tems Command (NAVAIR) contract for the production and delivery of 99 V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft,


including 92


MV-22 models for the U.S. Marine Corps and seven CV-22 models for the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command. Valued at approximately $6.5 bil- lion, the contract is structured to provide nearly $1 billion in savings to the U.S. government

ments through single-year contracts. The contract also includes a provision permit- ting NAVAIR to order up to 23 additional aircraft.


More than 200 V-22 Ospreys are cur- rently in operation.


Korean Air to Purchase Aircraft from Boeing


Boeing and Korean Air recently


announced that the airline has agreed to purchase five 747-8 Intercontinental airplanes and six 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners, valued at approximately $3.6 billion at current list prices.

Korean Air currently operates a fleet of 90 Boeing passenger airplanes that consist of 737, 747 and 777 airplanes. The airline also operates an all-Boeing cargo fleet of 27 747-400, 747-8 and 777 Freighters. Air France KLM Signs $1.1 billion Aircraft Engine Agreement With Rolls Royce


Air France-KLM Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rolls-Royce for Trent XWB engines to power 25 Airbus A350s. The agreement is worth $1.1bn at current list prices. Air France-KLM also has options covering 25 more A350 XWB aircraft. The Trent XWB, specifically de-


signed for the A350 XWB, is the fastest selling Trent engine ever, with more than 1,300 already sold. The first A350 XWB made its maiden flight in Toulouse and is due to enter service in 2014. Rolls-Royce engines power more than 50% of modern widebody airliners.
