Inside ICI Panel to Explore ‘Problem Castings’ as Part of 60th Anniversary Technical Program Oct. 6-9
Every foundry has that problem
casting that seems to defy conventional solutions. What do you do when you run out of answers? A panel of investment casters at the
Investment Casting Institute’s 60th Anni- versary Technical Conference and Expo will explore that problem.
They’ll be
bringing problem castings and discuss- ing how they solved the problems... what analytical tools they used and what meth- odologies were employed. The panel is one of more than 20 presentations scheduled at the technical conference, which is slated Oct. 6-9 at the Wyndham Grand Downtown, Pittsburgh, PA (see program on following pages).
Institute Executive Director Michael
Perry noted technical program represents a balance of presentations from invest- ment casters, universities and suppliers. “The problem-solving panel is in
keeping with our efforts to include pre- sentations that improve quality, reduce cost and continuously improve the cast- ing process,” he said. “We will also hear about the latest university research, new products and technical methods with near-term impact on competitiveness,” Perry said. Since technical questions are a daily
activity at investment foundries, answers come from a variety of places. “We’ll hear from the Institute’s tech- nical committee about current and future activities, including a technical question
forum, university programs, and other re- sources,” Perry added. Aside from the technical presenta- tions, attendees of the conference and expo will have the opportunity to see new products and talk one-on-one with sup- pliers about new services and techniques. The expo is scheduled 3-6 p.m. Oct. 7-8. The annual casting contest will pro- vide yet another layer of technology and information to attendees. “The contest illustrates the benefi ts of the investment casting process and recognizes casters who stretch the envelope,” he said.
