FUTURE 10Years Ago From TheVillage archive

OUR FEBRUARY 2007 mag showed young sledgers on New-

bourne Hill, Rowney Green, in the recent wintry weather.

Inside, our advertis- ing sales were now

“in-house” with the addition of Louise Robinson to the Village team!

September 2013 – the dig- gers arrive

IN THE NEWS: A team of high-level councillors, council officers and other authorities had formed with the aim of cutting through red tape to make a real difference for people in Alvechurch and Beoley, with youth problems and affordable housing high on the agenda. Meanwhile, Alvechurch resident Lorna Sage had launched a campaign to drain the village’s Meadows playing fields so that children could play sport all year.

Festive revels: (top) Emily Towler, aged 6, and Phoebe Farrington, 7). Above: Steve Cooper, of Tardebigge Cider. Below: Santa arrives.

HOPWOOD LADIES Cycling Group was celebrating its first birthday. Founder Deb Weston told The Village about the group’s adventures around the area and far beyond – including battling through floods!

FUNDRAISING TOre- build Barnt Green Scout & Guide HQ received an extra boost when former Guide and Ranger Sally Brunner, who now lives in Austria, roped in fam- ily and friends (including children Alex and Elisa- beth) to hold a special “English Breakfast” in Giessbuhl, raising £175.
