LE MAS CANDILLE Cote d’Azur, France

Le Mas Candille is an 18th-century farmhouse in 14 acres of lush secluded gardens with spectacular views of the Alps. It’s just 20 minutes from Nice airport and close by are Cannes, Monte Carlo and Pablo Picasso’s final resting place at Mougins. This Relais & Châteaux property has 45 rooms spread across three buildings. ‘Le Mas’, originally an old farmhouse, is the main part of the hotel and has a traditional Provence feel with 19 rooms. This is also where you will find the Michelin-starred restaurant and terrace, which takes the meaning of ‘dining with a view’ to a whole new level. ‘Le Bastide’, a converted barn, offers 19 uniquely decorated rooms and one suite, each with their own private terrace. Finally, there is ‘Le Villa Candille’, which offers six large contemporary suites with their own outdoors seating areas. We spent our three nights in Le Bastide with a lovely marble bathroom featuring a large shower and bath tub and a terrace overlooking the gardens. Next to Le Bastide is an infinity pool and pergola restaurant, where you can spend lazy days working on your tan while sipping champagne, all while enjoying that spectacular view. Or why not start your day with some light exercise? Early morning Pilates or aqua aerobics, led by personal trainer Nathalie, is the best way to ease the guilt before indulging in a beautiful three- course lunch followed by an afternoon of pampering at the spa. Full body massage, anyone? With three swimming pools, an outdoor gym, an award-winning Shiseido spa and a relaxation garden, the property really is a haven of tranquillity. Art lovers, honeymooners and families
